| | I was just talking with Charlotte Gibbs Good morning gang,
I just recieved a message from Charlotte Gibbs she is getting by although she says it is hard. She is sculpting in clay to keep herself busy as Curtis was very happy she had ordered some books on carving animals. He sculpted some life like animals for her so she could practice. He felt that by her doing that they were continuing their work together. Here is a quote from her message:
"Of course I know that I can not chat on the wood working chat line as it is clay.. and that is sad for me as we had learned to love so many on there."
I dont know about the rest of you but they were always so much a part of this message board and I think I speak for everyone here that we would welcome Charlotte to continue to chat with us here and also share her new art form with us.

| | Re: I was just talking with Charlotte Gibbs Wow, My nose sure aint up in the air about who does or doesn't post on this site. I would personaly welcome someone with knowledge of sculpting and would hope they share there work on here. To me it's just another form of carving and would give the new carver more ideas on form and shapes.
Colin , please let Charlotte know that she is welcome to my carving bench any time. Mike

Yes, I hope Mrs. Gibbs comes back on the board soon. She is a part of this board and Mr. Gibbs will always be remembered.
Thanks Golin for the update. |

| | Re: I was just talking with Charlotte Gibbs There are only two kind of people in this world, those who carve and those who should be carving. Those "should be's" are welcome here any time. Besides, I would love to do some clay sculpting. I need to talk to her.

| | Re: I was just talking with Charlotte Gibbs Not that it matters, but I wasn't making a connection with the name until I did a search and viewed the album. Of course, once I saw the album and Santa Gibbs, I knew and feel terrible as I am a fan. A carving legend was lost.
Not to put one carvers value over another but I think it would be a great tribute if WCI could post some of Mr. Gibbs carvings in a future issue. Those need to be seen by all carvers as that is an inspiration and a goal to be half as good as Curtis Gibbs.
Sorry for sounding awkward but this board seems to be a community. A community supports and strengthens each other. I would view Mrs. Gibbs presence and creative insight as an honor.

| | Re: I was just talking with Charlotte Gibbs Hi, I would like to add that as a Bird Carver I felt out of place at first, but it wasnt long before I was made to feel at home. Please convince that dear lady that carving is carving, and we would like her input as much as her presence. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
