Our club hosted a carving seminar with Harold Enlow, Mike Shipley, and John Engler. It thursday thru today saturday. We had full classes. going to do it again next august. I personally like Harold and Mike.. I havent taken John englers class. He mostly does relief carving. I like character carving myself \ dale |

Dale, you had three great instructors and three nice guys in that seminar. Harold Enlow, of course, nearly everybody that has been around woodcarving for even a few days knows. Mike Shipley has expanded into tools when he took over Ron Well's knife making business. John Engler does stay with relief carving; but, there is a lot to be learned from it. I took one of his classes, many years ago, because nothing else was available. I returned because I had improved my carving ability (I stay pretty much with birds of prey in the round) more than anticipated and because John is an outstanding painter. In fact, over the past few years he has taught a lot of "just painting" classes. People do a relief carving and then bring it in for a painting session.

Dale: In what part of the country do you live? I'd love to attend one of these, if it's anywhere near Virginia... Claudde |

Mark yes Paul was there. He said to me he enjoyed it. Claude we are in the south central part of Missouri. Paul you arent too far away we are going to have them back next year. we are in the planning now but in Next August 6,7,8th. We handed out a questionare afterwards asking about the facility, instructors, about everything we could ask and everything was favorably checked. Only just a few suggestions. 1. softer seats.. (we will tell them to bring a padded seat cover with them next year) ha 2. food on site. it was fun. and a busy time. Mark let me know what Paul says after he is away. dale |

That would be a great time! Two of my favorites in one shot! Only thing better would be to have Tom Wolfe as well Maybe I can swing down next year.Corey
