jumbo 1st grade pencils

Does anyone know where you can buy the large pencils with eraser like they use in the 1st grade and kindergarden? They are round and about a half inch wide. I carve simple wood spirits on them and give them to kids at carving demos. I have lost my supplier for them. Any information would be appreciated.

Last batch I bought from the Woodcraft Shop (NOT the Woodcraft chain) in Bettendorf, IA. Larry is a great guy and has a great carving supply store. There is an online catalog.

Walmart, Eckerds, CVS Walgreens, Kmart... They all carry them in their schools supplies. They can be seasonal in some areas. (remeber school is almost over for the year).

Years ago I bout 1,000 seconds from the factory. (the factory really didn't want to sell them but I managed to talk them in to it) Still had around 600, all blue color. Our local club is doing a childrens ar festival. We will be carving and handing out pencils to the kiddies. I taught two classes last week on carving a standard face on the pencils. 12 cuts and you see a face. We expecct to give away 100 pencils in 5 hours.

Not to hijack the thread--But Johncarves do you have a write-up on the pencil carving? I would be very interested in it. I would like to do something like that at a couple of carving demos.

Hi Larry, I have the large pencils. How many do you need. I think I have at least a couple of boxes if not more in my basement storage. I have red & green pencils.

It would depend on the price because I am going to pass these out to other carvers also. If the price is right I would take as many as you would sell. How many are in a box?
