| | John Burke Sharpening System Hi,
A couple of weeks ago, my woodburner and sharpening system died. I'm thinking that I'll go ahead this time and get a John Burke system for sharpening.
So my question is (and this is probably a wishful longshot--but hey! it doesn't hurt to ask!) does anyone have a John Burke Sharpening System they are ready to sell cause they don't use it anymore or found one they like better?
The woodburner was a Colwood so I've sent it in to be repaired but the sharpener is another matter. I've looked on ebay and didn't see one there.
Thanks!
Donna T

| | Re: John Burke Sharpening System Donna - I won't sell my Burke......I use it too much. I did make a great addition to it by adding a 6' hard felt wheel to the lower level. I moved the little rag ? wheel over to the far right side of the lower level and put the felt wheel in its place. I use that felt wheel more than any of the others.
Al Longo built his own version of the Burke system for about 1/4 the cost but that wasn't an option for me.
IMHO it's a good sharpening system - speedy and easy - and I'd sure buy it again. The only drawback is that it's MESSY.... REALLY messy.......it throws polishing compound all over the wall behind it. I stapled posterboard to the shelf it sets on and the wall behind it but it's still a terrific, sticky mess that won't vaccuum up. |

| | Re: John Burke Sharpening System Nancy--I know what you mean. Our club has one of the Burke systems and now I want one too. I have used the felt wheel and rag wheel and liked them too.
Hi Ho....but where do you plug it in and turn it on? :

| | Re: John Burke Sharpening System Hi Mr. Munchkin,
Awesomely so! At least for gouges and v-tools; I usually have better luck laying the bevel on knives with flat stones or a diamond sharpener.
I bit the bullet after learning all the good shopping tips from the fellas and ordered one. Now, let me see, 72 hours from delivery and set up, I can say, 'This ole thing...' 'but honey, I did it for the fellas. I couldn't let them down. ' They want me to experience this for 'all of them.'
Did I leave anything out guys?
