Lightbulb JJ - in other countries

Hello
I wonder about the perception of sculpture in other countries. How is it perceived at home? True art, craft or hobby?

FRENCH :
Bonjour
Je m'interroge sur la perception de la sculpture dans d'autres pays. Comment est elle perçue chez vous ? Véritable art, artisanat, ou simple hobby ?

Russia.
Sculpture has been definitely an art here, has been considered an art... de juro.
De facto...any art is more likely viewed as a hobby by many people who say - Ah, you are an artist, it's no vocation or profession.

Craft for most people, art for those who can buy costly carvings...

Hobby for wood most carvers

Art for some wood carvers... until they realize they can't live from their art...

Sorry but that's how it is.

As a Scot I'd say we've nether a tradition nor an interest in wood carving. There is interest in England in arty carving. I may be wrong usually I am. Traditionally our churches were without carvings, this meant no demand for carvings. The other thought is trees have a struggle to grow in the northern and western isle. THe mainland on the whole has few trees wars have made the demand greater than the supply.
Just my take on it.

Thank you for those answers. I see the same thing in France. Carving furniture is more recognized as a profession. The sculpture is generally regarded as art, or a hobby .... unfortunately.

Merci de ces réponses. Je vois que c'est la même chose qu'en France. La sculpture sur meuble est davantage reconnue comme une profession. La sculpture en général est considérée comme de l'art, ou un passe temps....malheureusement.
