guess ill just live with it,
i have several of them stress balls, the wife gets them when she goes to the food service conventions, and you know its funny how they show up in the grand kids toybox.. they must have found ways to smuggle them out in their diaper bags or something..
and to tell ya the truth i do need to do more to work past the problem

thanks all for the suggestions, mostly testing to see if i was the only one having this problem, or if i was being a woose about it...

Working with soft clay will also be good for your hands. Just knead it just like bread dough. It warms up with the warmth from your hand and the friction you create by kneading. Between the exercise and the heat, it might makeyour hand feel better. Then you can get into practicing making clay models for your carvings while you're doing the clay exercises, too.

Thomas: That goober looks great! Why, who would have thought carving a durn peanut?!? You even got the stem area where it was supposedly seperated from its umbilical cord looking like it was actually "picked". Jimmy Carter would be proud.

it was a good prop for a great trick on my son in law 'the goober eater...'

forgot to mention its 2"x1/2"x1/2 in size.

he keeps a big bag of salted goobers by his setting place on the couch while watching wrestling, he just scoops up a handful and cracks them second nature without looking, well you cant break this fellers attention with a fire or earthquake while hes watching 'resling' as he calls it,

so the bet was on with my wife and daughter "his wife" that i couldn't break his attention.

After eating supper there one night (lasagna night) we all set and watched restlin and him as he scooped up a hand full of goobers "where i had put this wooden peanut",
my wife and daughter were about pink, with tears in their eyes, they were so tickled having to turn their heads away to keep from letting him seeing their snickering red faces, and raising his suspicion, but we pulled it off, he finely worked his way to the 3 nut goober, and not being able to crack it he did as any monkey would have,"he bit it" that's when the gals just about hit the floor with the big yah haw! him unsuspicious turned the nut over and over, then the jig was up when he realized it could have been me....

this was a good old Louisiana country humor trick pulled on him as good as any Bordeaux and thibodeaux prank ever pulled off,

kenny that little guy is the hardest thing i have done in a while not that its that complicated
just the step by step isnt whats expected as the next step
but i like the surprizes of the (what i think is) out of sequence its looking better than i could do it on my own..

im tinking a cape forge or denny detail knife might be my next new tool these warren blades work but too often i have to stop and hone them as these little guys takes a sharp tool to keep down the stray marks to a minimum...

you knoy like when you discover your tool is dull, you hone and go over the same cut, it leaves a little mark..
