I took some photos of the carvings at the James River Woodcarvers Competition today in Richmond, VA. I don't have any names, unfortunately, except my own. Smile The first one is the Best of show and best of open. Second is my attempt of a closeup to show some of the incredible detailing of the piece. The third is Best Intermediate. Fourth is Judge's Creativity Award, titled "Got Nuts?" Fifth is a piece titled "Geisha with scarf", if I remember correctly. Claude |

More Photos from Richmond. The first is the Best of Show for Novice. The second is a try at showing some of the detail of the bird - this Novice is close to a professional! The third photo is another bird from the Novice entries. The fourth shows most of the Novice entries. The fifth is my first blue ribbon in the intermediate class! |

More photos from Richmond. The first photo is a great walking stick. The second is a very realistic looking dog about 4 inches high. The third is a neat rodeo bull. Fourth Photo - a great colored wood burning. Fifth photo is a news boy, about 18 inches or so (at a guess). |

I always have so much fun looking at all the show pictures. Having never been to a show its amazing to me how anyone can pick a favorite or top honors.. they are all amazing in their own right. I'm amazed at your tiny little gingerbread men.. wow that took on some eye strain. *grin* Beautiful peice! Congrats and thank you so much for sharing the pictures. |

Thanks, all, for the comments. Marci: The gingerbread men weren't the problem - it was carving the holly leaves with berries and the snowflakes that was hard! Claude |
