Default I've been working on Faces

I am trying to learn faces so I have been practicing when ever I can.

The first one is a little crossed eyed but it was my first attempt

Very cool!
In my spare time, I draw realistic style portraits of people and from that experience I share that one thing I learned in creating realistic portraits is that the colored portion and the pupil of the eye is covered somewhat by the top eye lid. It helps to eliminate the "doll" effect to do this.

I'm not suggesting you do that.......just sharing.

Blessings,
James

For early attempts, you did a great job. Remember that face carvings have different styles so go for how you like to carve faces. I like how your shaped the whiskers on your first fella. Well done.

I think it's a great first effort. I have not been game to try anything as ambitious as humans yet. I am still attempting stylised animals. You did well, keep going. Joe.

As a face practicer myself...it appears that in each piece of wood there is a face and that face comes out regaurdless of how we remove the wood. The faces you made are wonderfull, keep letting them out.
