Default Ittobori Japanese style?

While cruising the internet I have come across a few entries about a Japanese style of carving called Ittobori. Information is a little scarce. Anybody know anything about it? How about a translation?

I had never heard of it until now.
My first impression was that it looks comparable to Scandinavian flat plane carving.
The name Ittobori literally means "one chisel cut".

Hope this helps.

Ittobori is not commonly seen in this country, though in Japan it is more common. I have seen only a couple of ittobori carvings, and they are very much like Scandinavian flat plane. There have been, I believe, a couple of discussions on ittobori on the Carving Path forum.
