Hubby and I were off over the weekend, visiting family in southeastern Pennsylvania. Saturday morning they took us into Maryland to visit their favorite antique places. The second stop took us into a place called Havre de Grace, the parking place we found was smack in front of a Decoy Carving Store...well, of course, I had to check that out!! The owner talked to me about what I carve then told me about one of her favorite carvers and his wife, a very talented painter. She showed me a shaker box painted with a wonderful lighthouse scene....even the inside of the lid was beautifully painted. Guess who the team was? You would know in a minute if you saw the shaker box or the Santa and ornaments she had. It was our own Goody and Anna!! I was blown away by the beauty of their work, we always say pictures don't do them justice. How true!! Goody's carving and Anna's painting are even more impressive 'in person'! I just can't believe we ended up parking right in front a store that carries Goody and Anna's work.....it really is a small world! Deborah

Wow! is that cool or what? I have heard Havre is a nice place visit; in fact my brother and his wife suggested a trip there next time we visit PA. I guess now I have something to look for. Isn't Goody pretty close by also? Did you get a crab cake sandwich for lunch? Jim |

The old Santa maker is in Baltimore. Goody has a shop just off the beltway. And yes beyond a doubt , no picture will ever do his work justice. And Anna , well she is just really special. My wife cherishes the Santa she painted for me. Now being the lucky bloke I am .. I get to see them this comming Sat. to sit around , carve , tell lies and carve some more Cool . If your planning a trip, it is well worth the time to stop by and say hello . Ash |

Jim, we got the best crabcakes in the world down there in Maryland! Hubby wanted crabcakes so much, every place we drove by that had a sign out he wanted to stop at but his cousin said no way, there was only one place to get the best crabcakes. I can't remember the name of the place off hand but I sure won't ever forget the crabcakes, they were fantastic!! Funny thing was, it was a pizza place! Don said they are famous for their crabcakes and ship them out all over the country....I sure can see why!! Jill, the name of the store is Vincenti Decoys, 353 Pennington Avenue, Havre de Grace, Maryland. Isn't that a neat name....Havre de Grace....I wonder what it means?! Wow Ash, I didn't realize how close we were to Goody and Anna's place! Of course, I was lost most of the time, I couldn't keep straight whether we were in Pennsylvania or Maryland! We get down there again we'll definitely have to look Goody and Anna up! Of course, it's only been twenty some years since the last time we were down there so if hubby keeps the same travel time table we all might be pretty darn old by that time! Deborah

Deborah, A couple years ago, the wife and I stopped under the Annapolis Bay Bridge at some dockside Cafe and ate crabcake sanwiches while we watched the watermen bring in their catch. Makes for a very pleasant memory. Alas; we didn't get to meet any decoy carvers. Maybe next time. Jim |
