Default ISO colonial"night light "pattern

Hello
Have any of you ever seen the movie sleepy Hollow with Jonny Depp? Besides the fact that it was spectacular, there is a scene where the mom tucks her boy in bed and you can see his nightlight. It is the kind that has sillouetes cut in it and it spins around from the heat of the candle? Anyone know what I am talking about ? I have in mind to carve somesting like this...maybe rotate, maybe not, but it would sure be cool to try. Anyway, thanks in advance for any info...like what they might be called

All of the ones I have seen were cut from tin cans or tin with punched patterns. Having wood near an open flame would not be a good idea IMO.

· Motion lamps were small, cylindrical lamps with a stationary outer shade and a movable inner shade. The inner shade was supported only at the center point of the flat top by a metal pin, and it was free-moving. Angled vents in the top of the inner shade looked like fan blades; hence, the heat of the light bulb caused the inner shade to rotate, setting the scene in motion. Lamps had metal base components with a printed outer shade and a patterned inner shade. These lamps are rare and highly collectible today.
L.A. Goodman, based in Los Angele, California. The motion lamps produced by these companies were popular in the 1950s. They were mostly plastic and had a transparent outer lampshade with a pictorial inner, floating lampshade. When the light bulb heated the vented inner shade, the scene simply rotated around the lamp. Hopes this helps you to get the rest of information. Di

You might try something similar to the things I've seen for Christmas, like these
4 Level Woodland Pyramid ChristKindl-Markt

German Pyramids Windmills

I think it is the same principle. The right balance or possibly better bearings might let you use heavier pieces?

Keoma:
You could safely make it out of wood, if you put one of these in it:

Some of those little battery-powered candles actually flicker. Here's something that can be used for movement (remember the spinning ice ckater or twirling ballerina?)
