| | An interesting piece of wood Hi gang,
This weekend I at my brother in law's place and he is building a new shed. He is cutting the tree's from his cedar lot to make the shed. He was going to burn a bunch that he couldnt use and I saw this piece sitting on the burn pile. I instantly saw what I wanted to carve in it so I salvaged it and threw it into the back of my truck. The branch is off of the top part of a mature eastern white cedar and I brought it home and instantly began the carving. I have attatched the picture of carving that is almost completed. I thought it was such a unique piece of wood. It stands about 3 and half feet tall.I will be sure to post a picture of the completed carving.

| | Re: An interesting piece of wood Beautifully done Colin. Sure would have been a shame to see it go up in smoke when you can produce something like that from it. It will make a great piece where ever you place it, sure would look good in my yard! Well done son!

| | Re: An interesting piece of wood Beautiful piece Collin!! How is the white cedar to work with? All I have is the eastern red cedar to play with. I like the straight grained pieces really well.
HiHo, there has to be some kind of found wood there. A little looking around the mountains should produce something worth fooling with. Whittler | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
