Default Info request

Hello everyone,

Some time ago I found a web page that described a process wherein the carver makes very shallow scores with a thin knife and then rubs a dark compound into the cuts to make the scores visible. I think it was called 'coal skolling, scoring' or something along those lines (I'm having the darndest time remembering ).

Can anyone help me out with more info on this technique, and possibly its proper name?

Thanks so much!

- Johnny

Kolrosing - check out Kolrosing (Pinewood Forge Scandinavian Knives)

This is probably the one you're looking for.

Anytime - I've looked at that site many times and thought about trying it. But I've already got a list of projects, tools, & materials a mile long to get to first. If I try to start another direction - my wife will stab me and use my SKIN for kolrosing practice. heh heh

Have fun!

ROTFLMHO!!! Bwaaaa ha ha ha. <spits tea all over the floor & chokes>

Now THAT's too too funny. GREAT response. Funny thing is - she can draw really well, and probably WOULD be a good tatoo artist - if she didn't HATE tatoos so much. Of course, I think she'd make an exception in MY case. ;-)

Haven't laughed that hard in awhile. Thanks!!!

LOL!

You could get some pretty gnarly work done... wood spirits up one arm and Santas down the other!

Hi-Ho, grind the coffee real fine, rub it in with your fingers, and wipe it off.
It will work with any knife, but a kolrosing knife leaves a wider cut. Maybe you didn't make your cut deep enough.
