Default indian mask

I got the Jeff phares book a couple weeks ago.I didn't follow all of the instructions because I started off the corner instead of a flat piece he used but it really helped me out ,good book.(carving faces)
8x5 basswood ,finished with blo, deft lacquer , and homemade dark wax.(a dab of burnt umber oil melted in the wax)

very nice...I like the finish too.

I imagine starting off the corner saved a bit of carving time. I just learned that trick off Mark Gargac's old world santa DVD.

Excellent job JB. You make the face look like the skin is sitting on top of the facial bones. He has a great look to him. You did amazingly well considered you just picked up Jeff's book a short time ago.

Really great, Jonah.
I do not know the book but sometimes it pays off not to follow all the instructions. Very nice.

Jonah, your Indian Mask is a pleasure to see. Your ability plus what you learned from the book have pushed you forward to be a better carver than you thought you were, so keep at it. Well done.
