Hi Di,

That's a great carving and story. What kind of wood is it?

Nice gargoyle. Some have channels cut in them to channel rain water off roofs of houses. Heck, it might even wash a drug addict, or two, away also. Where did you get the plan? It looks like some thing I'd like to carve.

This made of Basswood, from Shawn Cipa pattern in the book of Carving Gargoyles, Grotesques, and other Creatures of Myth. I really like Shawns design and I love myth... so these are fun, but a major challege. Lots of lessons to learn which for me is a good combination. This is basswood, 9 inches tall..and with BOL.. eyes have a color wax pencil, a matte enamel spray finish, plus buff down with candle wax. Thanks everyone for you support...glad you like the story...smiles Di

Good carving job. I've always liked
Gargoyles and in fact have one hanging in the house.

When you say,
"It was a good fun project...not sure if I will make a life size one and plaster on top of house"
just how big is a life size Gargoyle? <grin>

I've seen them artistically done all sizes and wondered just how big a "real life size" Gargoyle would be?
