June 24-25-26 will be the first wood carving show where I will have a piece that will be judged... And at the same time, it will also be the first wood carving show where I will be part of the organization and help prepare the show. Talk about a beginning... If anybody is around Quebec city at those dates, (I know most of you lives too far away to be there...), I would be glad to shake your hand if you come and see me at the show. We install our things the 24th and the show itself will be held the 25-26th. I am still working on the piece that I will present, and it will be a 12" caricature... of course... I will also have some of my carvings at my table and will be carving all week-end to show what I like carving. I will post some picture after the show. But for now, I still have more work to do. Wish me luck. The goal is to participate and have fun, winning something would be a plus... but many good carvers will be present, for a total of 30 participants. Here is the program... sorry, only in french SSBQ: Programme Symposium Here are some pictures of the last 2 years Album Symposium 2009 Album Symposium 2010 Gilles Last edited by gtech; 06-05-2011 at 12:54 AM. |

Thanks for the photos, looks like a first class show. Have fun, don't take any of it too seriously. Make life-long friends. I know I have. Some I only see once or twice a year (at woodcarving shows). We share a common love that makes us close. |

If it was only a week later, I could have probably taken it in. I'm going to be at Deschene's carving school for a week at Saint John Port Julie the following week and I expect it may not be far from that location. Good luck with your first show. Will be waiting to see the pics. Patrick |

Thanks guys... Yes, that should be fun. And indeed, I hope to make new friends sharing the same passion. Patrick, then maybe next year you could be part of it... I'm sure you will receive a personal invitation from the club next year ;-) Gilles Last edited by gtech; 06-05-2011 at 11:22 AM. |
