If anyone receives an e-mail from me with an attachment, it isn't from me, so DON'T OPEN IT!! Evidently someone is working through this site to send these e-mails. I heard from one person who received one, supposedly from me, he isn't in my address book so it hasn't come from my computer. I talked to my internet provider and he said that's how this new virus works. I have been getting quite a few of these from other people on this site and they have all been stopped by my virus protection from getthing though, hopefully all of you are being protected too! Be careful!! Callynne

As an IT profesional (computer geek) who works with computers all day long...the virus being generated can be extremely frustrating...even in business as the company i work for has also been hit by the NETSPY virus. It takes just one person to open the attachment for the infection to take place. That starts the e-mail chaining process that causes the distribution of the virus. The best we can do as users is make sure we have installed virus protection software (e.g. McAfee) and if possible install firewall software (e.g. BlackIce) to protect users hacking into our computers. As time goes on it becomes harder for hackers to deploy their viruses but we still have a long way to go. Just recently Microsoft had some of their most important source code stolen and this could bring about another rash of viruses. As for the people who create these viruses, they just have to much time on their hands and need a hobby such as this great one we enjoy. Don't let them get you down, and keep on carvin'! |

...couldn't agree more, but the joker who did this is probably from outside the country.

I just installed a 'Spyware' or 'Parasite' detection program last week. I was surprised how many programs had been installed that could get information from my computer. I have Symatec virus protection, I update and run a complete scan weekly, and a Symatec firewall. I have never had a virus, so was surprised what it found. It was free to try, but I had to buy it to get rid of the parasites. Good Luck Ken in (94 degrees) So Cal |

Ed: The program flags all the malicious cookies also. There were't as many of those as I expected. Ken in So Cal |

Rocket, Would you recommend BlackIce over Norton? |
