Default Ideas from non-carving sources

I'm always looking for ideas for carving and painting from other than the usual sources. Dennis Taylor posted the idea he saw at Wal-mart. Thanks Dennis
I saw an idea from THE FAMILY HANDIMAN APRIL 2009
Bleaching wood
Wear protective gear, including goggles, rubber gloves and long-sleeved shirt.
Mix oxalic acid in a plastic container. 1 oz (2 tablespoons) of oxalic acid powder add to 1 cup hot Water and stir until the Powder dissolves. Brush on wood with disposable sponge brush...let it work for 20 minutes. Neutralize with borax (3 tbsps/gal of water)…use a sponge. Rinse with water and let it dry overnight. Sand the wood with 120, and 180 grit sandpaper.
I plan on using this idea someday on my habitat.

Please add your ideas that could be used in our craft/art. Give credit to the place that you found the idea. Cheers and happy carving. Dick
