| | That hurts!!! *OUCH!*
Just a reminder to all - despite having on a thumb guard and protective glove, you can still get cut pretty good. As I writew this, my left pointer finer's throbbing! I was carving, my knife slipped and the very tip of the blade went rigfht thru the glove and stabbed me good. Because it was just the blade tip, it's a small, but really deep cut. I was noticing the blade getting dull, but jst wanted to do "one more cut". So, just remember to keep those blades sharp AND remember that gloves don't protevt against straight, head-on stabs! |

| | Re: That hurts!!! Hi Jillsy, thought of you the other day as we're getting into to "santa" season. Noticed you hadn't been around much and then you show up with a cut, how can we keep an eye on you if you're not here? Hope you heal up soon and be careful. I can not believe the paint jobs on your last two santas, beautiful work. You've come a long way! |

| | Re: That hurts!!! Sorry to hear you got a boo boo hope you got a dora bandage on it and some salve,,
because of my grandson i have to wear cars bandages,,
gloves don't stop pokes, i got a metal/vinal coated food service carving glove, and although it wont let a flat tool through, micro tools get in there between the weave..
to combat this i have taken the sports wrap that sticks only to its self and sewed folded pads of it on the glove, with nylon , at the places where most pokes occur,
wrapping it around the fingers works but in time it shrinks making it hard to don the glove ,,
i buy at the sewing center thumb and finger guards that are too thin of leather but it makes a great base to attach the wimp wrap to, so my fingers and thumb can be protected as well from all pokes so far, (over 2 years) "when i wear them"
most cuts and pokes i get are contributed to dull tools or that infamous last little cut that needs to be made quickly ...
lessons learned,
* wear your protection
*cuts and pokes made from sharp tools heal faster,
*don't carve when distracted,,,
hope you mend fast... |

| | Re: That hurts!!! Sorry to hear about your cut. It reminds me of when I use to belong to a carving club I got a small cut and was required to wear a heart pin carved from ...... What else but purpleheart wood. Had to wear it until someone else drew blood. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
