Hello, I live in Dallas but I am getting ready to spend a week on the road heading down to Houston ant to Austin. I googled woodcarving shops and only came up with the Old Texas woodcarvers shop near Houston. It looks like an on line shop. Does anyone know of any other woodcarving shops down there? I am also having trouble finding somewhere to buy full size mallet carving tools. Other than woodcraft and two cherries. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. Steve |

There's a Woodcraft store here in Austin. Austin Woodworking Supplies at Woodcraft ? Woodworking Store in Austin, TX . The Central Texas Woodcarvers Association meets there the 2nd Thursday of every month. There's a place called Austin Fine Lumber that has some beautiful wood. But it's mostly cut for building furniture and such. There are rarely what I'd call carving blocks. And even their "cutoffs" are expensive. Not much else here that I know of. Drop me a line if you'll be in the Austin area overnight. I'm north--in Round Rock. If the weather's nice, we can spend an evening making sawdust or wood chips in the garage.

I "Googled" "woodcarving tools+Houston,Texas" and came up with 3-4 hits. This one is one of the first. At the top of the page it says something like "find store". If you click on that it gives you a map with directions to the store so I don't think it's online only. There are others in the Houston/Austin area also. Hope this helps?
