Carving a fairly large celtic knot. I found that 4 hockey pucks with one nail through each into a piece of 3/4 inch plywood holds odd shaped objects secure while carving. The tackiness on the rubber even allows you to remove the near one to work the edge. I hold the plywood to the workbench with a clamp.
