Default A "HOBBIT" lives here!

I guess I can call this one a "HOBBITAT" without rebut. This 'Bag-End' style domain measures 12x3.5x4". It was carved for a friend as a Christmas gift for his Mother, a devout LOTR fan. I watched the Trilogy while working on it. It was a lot of fun to carve. Hope you enjoy it. Anyone else out there ever carve one? It would be nice to see a picture. Thanks.

Great detail. I am also a LOTR fan. She is gonna love this. Tell me, did watching the trilogy help with your inspiration? Personally it is a safety hazard for me to carve while watching a movie. I can't afford to take my eyes of my fingers and the blade for a minute!!!Bouncing S Great work!

Now that is really nice. Love it. Question, looks like smoke coming out of the chimminy, what did you use to get that effect?

Mark, I've watched and read Tolkien so much I feel as though I'm at home with the Hobbits. Watching a movie while carving is only a distraction when I wish it to be. (breaks).

Kenny, the smoke is a piece of cotton, pulled and streched to mimic smoke.

Thanks for your intrest. I plan to make a few more with variation for my collection. Might have to hide them when friends stop by.

Pracuss - now THAT is a proper Hobbit hole. Bag End - THE - Hobbit hole by which all others are judged. Well done - so no rebut from me.

And YES - I will have to try one of these once I get past the much belated Christmas carving I need to complete. You've made THIS LOTR lover a believer in your Hobbitats. :-)

Cheers mate!
