Default Hilbilly for Flute

Just finished painting him.
{See below}

Had a gentleman contact me to carved a wolf head for one of the beautiful flutes he makes.Wanted it left natural.Which I carve a few wks ago. Contacted me again,wanting a hillbilly for a curley maple flute hes making.

I start on it yesterday carving it out of a block of mahogany,finished the carving with the measurements he ask for but I could go under a few of them.. 3-4 inches long,wide at 1 inch,tall at 2 1/2.

I carved it 3 1/2 inches long,2 inches tall,7/8 wide. The back had to be totally flat,which is the reason for the hillbillys hat flat in the back. Think this item on a flute is called a fetish.

Anyway,I now found out he wants it painted. The mahogany once stained and finished would have looked beautiful but after posting this,yea here comes the paint. Will paint him and post him painted when Im finished.

Ole to bill jo,a painting I will go~

your thoughts or comments are welcome.

Forrest

PS,I know he only has three fingers,a troll ate the utter two. His name is 6 fingers Willy.

Just applied some gloss,the back and bottem left showing the mahogany wood. With the gloss the colors melt together plus this Hillbilly will be touched and the flute itself will have a gloss finish.

That's just a great job on the ol' hillbilly, my friend and I think it would have looked gorgeous with a varnish on that mahogony, but who can say which is better, when you paint the way you do! This may seem like a stupid question, but I don't get why he had to be flat near his head, and do you know where it will sit on the flute itself? Whatever the case may be.....you sure did a fine job on him and he's sure to love it! If not.....you know where to send it...LOL Bonnie

Forrest, was that hillbilly carved to be the sound wave bird on the flute. If so, you blow me away my man. I've seen everything under the sun used for the "birds" but this takes the cake. Absolutely love it.

Hey Forrest,
I know that mahogany looks good, but your paint job really did bring that ole hillbilly to life, another great job!
