Default "He's My Brother"

Been carving some little things and always wanted to carve a solider carrying a wounded comrade. I didnt want to denote any certain war but just a solider carrying on his back one of his fellow soldiers through the water. Doing what ever it took to get him to safety and medical help.

To be a miniature for a carving show,any way they measure the carving it has to be 2 inches or less.{all around}

The two soldiers them selves was 1 7/8 tall and I wanted the one carrying the wounded soldier in water/swamp. Meaning I need' a base but too a base would have taken it over the 2 inch total measurements required.

I cut a block of bass wood and carved out the bottem in it,the feet of the soldier carrying the other soldier was the base,kinda a doughnut with him through it keeping the measurements correct plus haven the swamp too.

But I hated there was no bottem so I get some of my bottle meds from the VA in plastic ziplock bag,I cut out the size to match the total carving on the bottem,glued it on and kelpt this carving under 2 inches tall but with out the soldiers feet showing.

Its all carved out of bass wood. 1 3/4 wide,1 1/2 long,tall at 1 7/8's inches. Painted with acrylics.

I hope you enjoy it cause I sure did trying to create it.
Your thoughts or comments as always are appreciated.Thanks'

Forrest

Forrest,

Yet another one of a kind little treasure. Part of the wonderment of your carving is the complete process that you go through, from idea, idea visualization, carving, painting, and the story. Not only are your carvings a treasure, but you are yourself.

That's amazing.....what a complicated little 2 incher you have there, Forrest. There's something about it that touched my heart. A whole lot of imagination went into that little piece, I know, but that certainly is something that you never lack. The water and the swamp grass he's trudging through actually make this little mini come alive. It portrays "He's my brother" very well, grabbing the senses in hopes that they'll make it! Just a great job, my friend. Bonnie

It's great how you can pack all that into a 2 inch cube.

That little carving is so emotionally powerful. Take a bow Forrest. Well done.

Amazing what you can come up with! So much detail in a small meaningful carving.
