Default Help with my alien

Hi everyone. This was a practice piece I've worked off and on on and forever. I still can't decide how to finish it because a part of me never really expected to finish it. You all have creative minds and it would be great to know how you all envision it being finished. Stains or colours would help. It's basswood. Thanks!

Is that a helmet that he's wearing??? If it were me, I'd paint the head/helmet silver.

How ever when you said ALIEN, I thought it was the kind that comes from outer space.,,,you know, the ones with the huge eyes that are black.....I carved one a while back.

I'm hoping that in my life time the U.S. government will give us all they know about these creatures and their fantastic machines.

I'd look for a way to accent those great cuts you made- Base coat then an accent coat, remove the accent color from the high spots and leave it in the cuts.

Jaw lines, round out his lips and make them deeper. a hit of eyes just under the helmet would give it more character

I'd try to finish it so it looks like old stone. Maybe even add some discolorations or lichens.

Wow! Thank you for the replies, everyone!

Dileon, I believe you are correct. To be honest I got for the carving idea from a 'Survivor' immunity idol a couple seasons back that I thought was really cool and wanted to try the pattern out. And I think they were on Samoa or some other far off island so good call on that one. Whittled Thumb, I used your advice and carved the lips deeper, and bflobif, your idea with finish sounds great but how would I go about removing colour from high spots? I don't have much experience in finishing. Thanks again!
