Some time ago there was a posting that detailed how to remove the jacket from a golf ball with a lathe. I looked backed quite aways & did not see it - can anyone point me to the posting? Secondly, again some time ago it was mentioned that Pete Leclair had a book that was step by step for faces - does anyone know the title? I appreciate any and all help! Thank you- Barry

Pete has three books. You may want "Carving caricature Heads and Faces". Check here: http://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/searchproducts.cfm |

I know of two LeClair books that do what you are asking: Carving Caricature Figures from Scatch - LeClair and Carving Caricature Heads and Faces - LeClair Both have step-by-step instruction.

I've got both Carving Caricature Figures from Scatch - LeClair and Carving Caricature Heads and Faces - LeClair Carving Caricature Heads and Faces is easier to follow in my opinion but as the title suggests it does not go into carving the body. |

just take a pencil and draw a line around center, use a coping saw, the blade is just about the same width as the ball cover is thick, saw until the top of the blade is flush with the top of the ball cover and keep moving the ball, you have to have a couple of small screwdrivers to pry the cover off to break the surface tension.
