I think I'm going to try Thor's idea of the back plaque and the dowel rods. I have chewed on this all afternoon and really like the idea of him floating over the plaque.
With her idea when the baseball cap is not in place the entire carving is free floating. My idea would have had this odd open area in the upper area the head yet closed or filled below the beard area.
So ... off the the work shop!
Again, Thanks!

| | Re: Help!!! Thor! I wanted you to see how great your idea is going to work. I cut the back boardthis morning and drilled dowel holes to support my wood spirit. Then I had a great time texturing the back board.
I'm off the finish up the wood spirit part. !

That turned out really well! I never would have thought of texturizing the board. That makes it so much better.
Great job! I'm sure his hat will feel right at home there.

| | Re: Help!!! Thanks Thor, I had a blast making the back board into an old board ...
Hi-Ho, you know by now that I love my men bald and wooly bearded.
Tom, Oh, that's too much. Now I see a tall board with a whole assortment of little wood spirit faces, one for each hat ... Too many ideas, not enough time.

| | Re: Help!!! What a great idea! Mind if I borrow it Susan ........I have a hat that Neil Young gave me, one he wore on stage, a George Lucas Indiana Jones hat, and have been trying to come up with a way to mount it. I wear it once in a while, but a characture of Neil would be perfect.
