Default Hawk to go with Wild Boar

Here are a few photos of the Red Tail Hawk.

I posted the photos of the Wild Boar last week. If you missed the first post, some details are listed below. I will probably start the Black Bear next.

I have a commission to carve 5 pieces for a hutch. They will applique to the doors. 9" dia. x 1 1/2" thick. Carved from Alder.

The subjects are: a wild boar; buck; hawk; black bear and a fox. I can choose whatever representation of the subject I want to carve (not as easy as it sounds). This evolves pattern making and development.

That's a neat approach to bringing the hawk out of the wood...almost carved completely around. Not a bird carver but that is one nice hawk.

Loved the wild boar, John, and the red tailed hawk as well....just a beautiful job on both of them....clean cuts and excellent work all around. Can't wait to see the rest. This is an interesting project. Bonnie

Great job on the hawk. You did a nice job of giving it depth, I would have never guessed it was only 1.5 inches thick. Can't wait to see the next one

What a cool carving John, I love the deep relief with the hawk silhouetted against the "moon".

Nice!!!!
