Ok - I'll go out on a limb with the first guess. I'd say the wood is cherry, assuming the colors are realistic. If the photo is a bit redder than real life, it might be walnut. Of the two, though, I think it's probably cherry. On the other had, it might be a type of mahogony, but the grain doesn't look right for that, so probably cherry. Maybe. Smile Claude |

Lol. I like it! That would be a fun carving and bass wood would be great to use as well as many other woods. MikeHammer PS I agree with Claude, maybe cherry, hard to tell from the pic but not much grain showing.

appears to be a frog with crown to me, i bought a chunk/drop of hondurius mahogany about the same color, but shortly before that i was in a flea market where a $6.00 price tag on a carving had cought my eye. upon closer inspection i seen the mold marks very well hidden but evident, it was that granit dust in fiberglass resen if i couldnt have found the mold marks i might have bought it, but it was way too heavy for wood.... if this crowned frog is wood. i suspect cherry, but i also suspect resin as well... you can check it with a hot needle in a hidden place, to see if it melts or scorches... you can tell the difference between wooc fume or plastic easily

the more i look at it it says casting, if you save the picture and zoom in about 3x you can see detail evidence that would make me not want to carve something like that, it is a crowned frog with a collar and bow tie, the collar tips and crown make the material very thin, I'm still wondering why its mounted where it is mounted, the setting appears above a window in a camping trailer where the frog is a henge cover or a window curtain valance, never the less its a cool frog,. and if i seen it with a $6.00 price tag, i would be mesmerized enough to take it home....
