Default Had a Visitor!!

Hi everyone I just wanted to let you know that I had a visitor today. I got to meet Bob Cain better known as Xsailor. I had called him last night and he was able to come over to my house today and spend sometime with me talking tools and carving. It's always nice to meet fellow carvers and I think we had a great time. Bob brought me a knife he made and it is a very nice one he did a great job on it. We also talked the local club here and he gave me the contact info. I thought there might be one but was reluctant in going to be able to tell what is going on without seeing but I think I will give it a try. Bob is also talented in other types of art so I am looking forward to his next projects. I was going to get a picture of us but Lou wouldn't hold the camera just wanted to sleep. Thanks for the meeting Xsailor hope we can do it again soon.
Ron

Ron, I'm glad for you to meet another carver--and very nice of the Xsailor Bob Cain to drop in on ya with a knife no less. I hope you do go to the club. You'd be surprised how much you could teach them about carving! But whatever ya do, have fun!

Nice words Ron and Kenny,
Ron has a real nice cozy setup(everything within arms reach) in his garage addition. The only thing he needs is a good heater(Brrr-rr) and of course more tools!! If I were counting tools I would have had to start over a couple of times, not enough fingers and toes to count his tools. It was a nice visit and I'm looking forward to the next one........he talks my lanugage.

By the way the plaque he is finshing and displayed on the forum is really impressive. Also he's working on a relief at his desk that will really be nice to see when he gets it finished.

Just to give you some idea of his carving method. He has a camera viewing the general area he is working projected on an approx 20" Monitor. He is able to view, with his diminished vision, an area the size of dime on this 20" monitor. A very dedicated carver with a "just one of the guys" attitude.

By the way "Just Carving",
I brought the knife as a show and tell item we could talk about. Needless to say we carvers "don't need not stinking" props to spark conversation. We had plenty to talk about and still do. Besides, he has more knives than Mr. Case...
It's a nice thought thou. A fellow can always use another knife.

If it was the knife you had in Elk City and the one pictured on your avitar, It is one beautiful knife and sheath.
Very impressive and rates right up there with the best.
I agree with you Bob,ya"don't need no stinking props" to spark a conversation.
Best to you Bob and your lovely wife!
