Default Had to try something new

Well, I decided that I just had to try something new.... Not as easy as it looks.

I did not know that I would get a workout doing a chainsaw carving. I am going to wait till tomorrow to finish.

Greg, I like your carving site also. Great stuff, but that elk relief is a beauty.

I've also been having some chainsaw carving fun lately. I really like the way you have made the area where the eyes will go which is a little different from my normal method. Looks just great!

Yeah, it helps to have a strong upper body to carve with the chainsaw but if using the right bar, a razor sharp chain, and the right size saw for the job... roughing out verses detailing, then those things will make it a bit more enjoyable. But then again, I'm still learning the chainsaw thing too.

Looking very forward to the progress. Think safety first when using the power carver of all power carving... the chainsaw!

I am using pondarosa pine (scrap pc I found on my hunting land)

I was just stuying the net to try to figure out how to finish him. I could burn it or paint it, don't really know which is best yet. Then I need to figure out how to seal the wood, presurve it and then finish it.

This is my first chainsaw carving and I am not really sure how to finish it.....

I welcome suggestions and I will post what I finally choose.

Greg
