Default Habitat For Dancing Loon

I am looking for advise on how to build a base with water for a dancing loon that i'm carving.

The dance where they go like crazy in one direction then turn around and do it back the other way? I've seen that twice. It would be funny if it wasn't so elegant.

I'd say 1/4" plexiglas to start. Make a drawing of the wake pattern which goes underneath.
Methacrylate and catalyst from a boat/fiberglas shop. Figure out how long you can wait as it goes gooey before you drool it on.

Hobby stores that cater to model railroad enthusiasts sell a product that is a clear liquid that hardens when it cures. They use it for water scenes. I seen it at a model rr show, but I don't remember the name of it. I've slept since then. LOL!
