Good time to start a new post. Note; that we have no time limit now...and need lots of helpers. This is for the Hillbilly reunion that will be going to Wood Carving Illustrated and Fox chapel publishing. The project started out small and bloomed into something big. This is for all carvers, please join us. Tom H is handing all new pieces, transporting them to Goody and running a web site with information. Goody has the scene and is putting that together. Ron will be in charge of the background. We welcome all new ideas..... scene is hillbilly reunion in caricature carving. The carving must be doing something to add to the fun and laughter that is being created. We are going to need lots of small items. I had a lady but I guess I got bad wood she is missing both arms, a chin looks like zombie...smile.... so we are starting over.

This post is from Goody about the size. Pg.62

Ok,
For us that need to understand relationships (i will never understand my wife) it looks like a 1:14 ratio. This puts a 6 foot man at 5.125 or 5 and 1/8th inches.
Here is a little calculator that will help.
Jim's Dollhouse Pages: Hobby Calculators

In the top block leave it 1:1 or full size
Type in the feet and inches on the next line.(say you measure a real shovel and its 4 feet 10 inches) thats what goes here.

Leave the metric line blank

The next block use the pulldown and select the 1:14 ratio

Hit calculate scroll down and the scaled answer will be in feet and inches. ( this will be the length you will need to carve the shovel)

I am Laying this project out on cad a little and its huge! Just doing some quick placing of boxes the size of some of the objects we at over 15 feet long and 3 feet deep

If anyone has trouble sizing the object you pick email or pm me and I will help you scale it.
Goody

Here is the blog....... the list and some more information can be found here on this blog
Hillbilly Reunion
Maybe you should save this to your "favorites" 'cause I believe this is where most of the action will take place as this thing unfolds. Thank you Wayne for this.
