Default Greetings from Iraq

Hello all,
Well we have arrived in Iraq finally, I have been here 25 days, and I have already had two people ask me to carve them something. It doesnt seem to matter the circumstance, if you want to use your creeative spirit you will be given the opportunity! By the grace of God, and my rank, I have my own room, so I have set up a carving table, and there are already woodchips at my feet. It's truly good for the soul! Take care, and enjoy the snow for me! Lorax

Well hello right back, I guess you don't have to worry about snow in Iraq. Maybe it should snow there and cool things down a little. I'll pray for your safety. Isiah 26:3 Its real interesting to see your posting from Iraq.

It's really great to hear from you....even better to hear that you're doing well and have a room instead of a tent . Please let us hear from you as often as possible and know that we're thinking of you and appreciate what you're doing.
God bless you and keep you safe.
If you need anything - please PM me and I'll see what I can do about sending it.

Lorax, I also have military family members overseas and I thank you all for your services to our country and our world. I'm happy you can work in some carving time with the few tools as compared to your carving area back home. I'm sure its fantastic therapy from what your confronting everyday.

In December, I carved a Patriotic Santa, (cottonwood bark) for my brother (Army), he emailed me in mid-january, informed me that he took it along with him and has it hanging in the front hallway of their sleeping quarters, and I've recieved three other emails from his department staff telling me how much they appreciate seing it everytime they walk in.

If you would like a piece of cottonwood bark to carve, I will gladly mail one out to you, email or PM me your mailing address....bye the way, if you take me up on this, I'd like you to give the carving away to a fellow serviceman as an appreciation of thanks. Coffeeman

Good to hear from you Lorax. Wishing you all the best during your tour. It's good that you do some carving while there....will help you keep your mind occupied and a break from the stress. Perhaps you can learn some new styles of carving from the locals or teach them some of yours. Nothing like carving to break barriers in cultures! It makes a statement all on it's own! "Carve wood, not each other!"

Stay safe and God bless!

My respects,

Bob
