| | Greetings!! Hi everyone. Just wanted to drop a line introducing myself to the board in general.
My name is Bob Duncan and I'm the new editorial guy at Fox Chapel. I'll be working mainly for WCI with some contributions to Scroll Saw Workshop--so you'll be seeing my name in print there too.
Now, a little about me...
I grew up in McKean County, PA, near Kane, which is the Black Cherry capitol of the world. My father had 180 acres of cherry forest and spent a lot of time working in his woodshop (mainly cabinetmaking), so I grew up working with wood. I started carving in high school and haven't looked back yet.
My projects to date include celtic knot lovespoons, chip carved quilt racks, a wooden chain, and a model ship that I started in high school, messed up, and haven't taken the time to finish yet (baggage from my dad who spent 25 years in the merchant marines and can quote the ballistics of just about any cannon that sailed on a ship).
I've got a degree in public relations from the University of Pittsburg and traveled around the world on the university's Semester at Sea program. I 'honed' my writing skills at the Bradford Era newspaper, and moved to Lebanon before getting involved with Fox Chapel.
In addition to contributing to the magazines, part of my job is going to be cruising this board and other message boards handling questions, offering my opinion, referring people to Fox Chapel books or magazines, and chatting in general ( and yes, I get paid to do this).
So, if you have questions, concerns, etc. give me a hollar. Otherwise, I'll be talking to ya all!!!
Bob Duncan
BTW Luking on the page, I saw that some of you are attending the show in Canada in a couple weeks. That will be my first ever carving show so if you see a tall, dark haired guy whose eyes are being held in only by his eyeglasses...stop over. I'd love to meet any you all!

Welcome aboard, you and I are going to get along just fine......Celtic carving and ship models!!! Dust that ship off and I'll help you get her finished. Sorry I can't get to the carving show, but if you are ever down this way, (Miramichi, New Brunswick) drop in and say howdy, we speak carving here.
