Default A Great Visit With a Great Carver

This week I had to go with my son to Nashville to see about a friend .. and We took half the day and drove to Townsend Tenn . to visit Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers Shop ...
While there I didnt see Gene Webb and found out he had a small shop of his own and visited him right down the road in the beautiful mountains of the Smokies ..

Gene has opened a little shop by his home and he has all his wonderful carvings and wow .. what a great visit I had with him ..

I met his wife and daughter and he spent almost 2 hours with me showing me his new shop and his great animal carvings he has done and about his new classes he teaches in power and hand both .. and how he's going to have guest carvers come in and teach ..

Neeedless to say .. I was impressed with his wonderful down home style and friendly atmosphere he had at his shop ..

All and all .. Gene is not only a great carver.. but a great carver to vist when
your in or around the Gatlinburg area or Townsend Tenn. area ..

I still say carvers are the greatest people in the world and Gene proved it to me thats true ..

Let me just say that if any carver is up around this area anytime this summer or fall .. dont hesitate to go by and see Gene Webb at his new shop .. you want be disappointed .. I guarantee it ..

He will make you feel at home and ask him about the classes and guest carvers he will be having next year .. I thinking if I have time to go to some myself ..

Gene has a website at Custom Wood Carvings Smoky mountains wood carving classes fireplace mantels custom wood doors Furniture Panels Wood Sculptures

The only thing I regret is I didnt have enough time to vist Allen Goodman in Maryville Tenn.

But Gene"s vist was enough

Gene

I envy you. Would love to stop and see Gene's work. Would love to chat with Alan as far as that goes. Sounds like it was a good trip!

Hey Gene,

I too was in Townsend this past weekend. When I got to Genes and found out you had been there I showed Gene a couple of little Hillbillys I have done from your tutorial here on this site and told him I wished I could have shown them to you and got to meet you. Maybe I can get them posted on here in the near future so you can see them.

Hey Gene! Glad to hear you made it up to this part of the world again. Sounds like you had a nice visit with Gene! You definitely need to visit with Allen. He's a great guy and a heck of a carver. Maybe if you come back to Johnson City both of us can head down that way and see them! Hope you are doing well my friend!
