Default Grannys New Iron

Granny never had a iron bee-fours,she just keep on the same dress then press it out with her feet as it hit the floor. She was a tough old woman by all means,never even had a washing machine. She dip my over alls in the creek get em so clean they would squeek. She dipped old snuff and drank the juice,thats what made her so tough.

I asked her one time Granny what happen to my maw? Son she died given you birth it was late in the fall. I tired to help,PULL!! PULL!!!Id screem at her but nothing would work,thats the day your maw left here on earth. I took you to the barn and you nursed the old nanny goat and grew and grew,this son is all I could do.Thats why your hair is thick as a old rug plus your feet are so tough.

I love you Granny for taken such care of me,heyyy is this why I love to eat leaves off the trees. Yea son plus you have that nasty smell like spoiled butter milk there in the pale. But you are my son that I raise as my own,stop butten me and now run along.

I love my old Granny for teaching me every thing I knows,got go!

Sat.We was on our way to NC,the fair is there this week,Connie & me have canned,several types of pickles,jams,jellies and fruit,she enter'd in the fair,I took 3 carvings,some of my 1st,yall havent seen them but just sum-thang to do. Connie will do good.

Going to take her to work tomorrow morning and will pick her up at her work,then we can ck out the fair that evening. Sat,driving up to NC,stopped at several yard sells,there was one a old,I mean old lady at a table in her yard. I asked her,how much is this wooden iron? Took her a while, 10 cents,I looked under her table at that time,what about this old fruit jar? dollar too much,she replied.

I only had $5.00 bills and up,I dont have any change son she said,the jar was a 1gal.old one with the original lid a HB jar. Worth anywhere for $25-30 I handed her the $5.00 and told her keep the rest,you need to get out this heat,it was hot outside. Might do it now,more money that I had thought Id make she said.

This iron has under the handle;
Whitney since 1904
Marlborough,NH
.

Update,Whitney makes children toys and furniture I just found out{thanks to Mr.Google}

Its pine,relief carved,hard knot at the top.2 inches wide X 5 inches tall.Painted with acrylics.

Hope you like it.

Thanks Forrest

Granny looks like she might be fed up with having to do all that ironin' ;O). Great carvin'. I think I would rather stick to my basswood as that iron looks hard as a brick ! Good work!
