Default Good Monday Morning!

Well, since I missed posting on yesterday's daily thread I'll take the liberty of starting Mondays.
Kris, it's really nice having you with us!! As you have already noticed, lots of really nice, really helpful people here!!
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's accident and very happy to hear she (and the others) weren't hurt! Donna's right though, she'll probably feel it in the days to come!
I spent a lot of time on the computer last week but only got to quickly read through posts. Too many Birthday, Anniversary and Valentine's Day cards to make up, lot's of celebrations this time of the year in our family! Yesterday was hubby's and my thirty-sixth anniversary....can't believe we've been married so long! So glad we've made it this far....like the saying....'Come grow old with me the best is yet to be'....have to agree with that!
My carving time has been spent on dogs, the most of which has been on an Irish Setter that's been giving me fits. I tried carving it to look like the 'show dog' photo I had, it worked, looked like the photo but not really like any Irish Setter I'd ever seen. Had him all finished and woodburnt and decided he just wasn't right. Ended up cutting away practically all the woodburning , finished woodburning him yesterday and I'm definitely liking him better! Thank Goodness!!
Again Kris, so glad to have you with us and look forward to hearing lots more from you! Callynne

Thanks for starting the 'daily' post Callynne and for the nice 'welcome'. 36th anniversary too, that's pretty special! (personally, I'm not too keen on the growing old part, but I guess if we gotta, it's nice to have someone along with us).
Bet you are glad you recarved and burned the Setter, even though it took you that much longer to finish. Now you will look at it and feel like it's 'right'...instead of 'sure wish I'd done that different'...
Your carvings are really nice (peeked at your album).great job on the painting too..do you use an airbrush on some of them or are they all by hand?

I have the day off and hopefully I will be able to continue with the hiking stick I am working on.

I think I am ready to apply a finish to the stick. I plan to use a light colored oak stain and I hope it will accent some of the carved areas. Then I will apply either tung oil or a poly coat.
Any ideas of finishing cactus hiking sticks?

I am also working on carving an indian from a Harlod Enlow pattern. Plan to use this on the next stick I make.

Congrats Callynne. The little bide and I will have our 36th in Oct. I am working on several projec. Some small for pins and magnets and a couple larger ones. Have started on a cane for my BIL. He is in to ducks so it will either be a Mallard head or a a small Mallard for the top. Usually when I start to recarve a piece I did care for, it usually looks worse when I get done. Best to you.

Goodmorning gang,
The wife and I celebrated our 39th on Friday seems most of us have been married about the same amount of years. Congratulations to all of you.
I am now finished the cane carving and and three spirit carvings I started last week. This week I hope to do two more canes and a few spirit carvings. No I havent forgot the santa it is still on my to do list. I also have a bear that I am working on (little one). No sign of spring here yet so the big carvings are going to have to wait.
Take care everyone
Colin

Well! anniversary to all who have earned it! We'll make 39 in May, so it does look like we're all pretty close to doing well for the same time.
