Default Will golf ball carving damage Basswood tools?

Hi guys and gals,

Am wondering if carving golfball cores (not the ones that are known to be too hard to carve) will damage my carving tools which are sharpened for Basswood use.

Would prefer not to spend money for a separate set of tools, if possible.

Opinions based upon experience, please

Many thanks,
Mike

I don't think so. Check Gene Messer's youtube channel. He shows how to carve a golf ball. he is whittler0507 on you tube

Never harmed mine. No grain in golf ball cores just hone as needed

Mike,
I don't think golf ball carving harms regular wood carving tools, but it does dull then a bit. Usually, just a quick stropping session will revive them for wood.
