I tried to switch it to caricature but it wasn't having any of it!! so I just left it in holiday section! As for carving the golfball, it isn't bad at all, the rubber stuff actually carves pretty good..different but good the tricky part is getting the hide off! be careful, a sharp knife on a round object can slip awful easy!! I drew a line around the ball in the center, then put it in a welders clamp, perfect fit! that way I could hold the ball without the knife slipping and hitting my hand, another way is a bandsaw, not everyone has one, but those of us that do...same problem of the round object slipping, next one I will use a forstner bit, drill a couple holes in a couple pieces of wood to put the ball in and then use the bandsaw....good carving!

Hi Ho, I usually hold a golf ball with a pair of vice grips and then use one of the little fiberglass cutting disks in the Foredom or Dremmel and cut right through the hard outer shell. It cuts wide enough that you can usually see the colored inner core and thus know how much deeper you need to go. One word of warning--be sure to wear protective glasses. That icky stuff can do a number on your eyes. You're right--golf ball carving is a neat way to personalize a carving for your golfing friends and family. Guaranteed to start a lively discussion. Thanks, glad you like them....just finished a walking stick on the 'Navajo Willow' will take a picture and try to get it on, sticks are hard tho because you can't get it all in the picture, the coloration of the wood is what is so pretty.
