| | glasses and dust masks!!! I have not found a suitable way to keep my glasses from fogging up if I wear a dust mask to sand. Within a minute or two, my glasses are so fogged I can't see what I'm doing. Any one have a suggestions that would help?

| | Re: glasses and dust masks!!! First off, I'm not a power carver, but do a lot of wood working so should be similar. I have not found a "dust mask" that will work properly with glasses. I have been using a respirator that I got at Home Despot for something like 25 bucks. Put it on, make sure all the rubber seals are sealed, put my glasses on and sand away. No problem (well, I do get sanding dust on my glasses). |

You might try this one, It was recommended to me by someone on this site and it works great. I wear glasses when carving, and when its put on properly it dosen't fog up my glasses. Lots of morning its real cold in the shop when I first start carving. Dust Mask

| | Re: glasses and dust masks!!! I second Hugh's suggestion. I have a Dust Bee Gone mask also. And they will work with you for size or facial features.....I needed more room around the nose. They made one with an extra pleat right at the nose area for me at no extra charge. My first one is probably 8 years old and still works. But since I got the new one with the pleat at the nose area, the old one just hangs there. I will save it for my grandson, who says he wants me to teach him how to carve..... |

| | Re: glasses and dust masks!!! If you want to stop the dust from clinging to your glasses, just wipe your glasses with the antistatic Klingfree strip, the laundry strips.Plastic glasses have a lot of static in them. Skip

| | Re: glasses and dust masks!!! Lee Valley Tools here in Canada sells a pleated dust mask that works great with glasses. I have been using them for a few years with no problems. |

| | Re: glasses and dust masks!!! I got a Dust Bee Gone mask too, to fight the fogged glasses, and it does a pretty job of that (but not perfect). My biggest concern is that it is not NIOSH approved, which means we couldn't use it at work for particulate protection. I've noticed some dust gets past it, and maybe that's not enough to worry about, but the other respirators that fog my glasses do an execllent job of stopping the dust. Why isn't the world perfect? Oh well.... Mike |

Thanks everyone for your great suggestions. I am definitely going to order a Dust Bee Gone mask. It sounds like an improvement over my dust mask from Home Depot. I knew you would have a solution!
