Default A gift from my Native friend

Hi Gang,
Well I am back home from the Lumberjack Festival had a great time and sold just about everything I had. I now have to carve from dusk to dawn to try and get stuff ready for next weekend at Kempenfest a huge three day show on the beach on beautiful Kempenfelt bay in Barrie Ontario. Attendance is usually from 150,000 to 200,000 so I had better get going.
I just wanted to show you a gift I recieved from my Native friend while I was out west in Campbell River B.C. this June. It is a native carved paddle the paddle is carved out of old growth red cedar and inlaid with abalone shell. The Orcha is carved out of Cherry wood and inlaid. The carver's name is Rick Smith and he lives on the far end of Vancouver Island in Nootka Sound. This guy does not carve for a living we have become good friends over the years I had given him one of my carvings and he did this for me in return. I am always in awe of the First Nations people and their amazing art in fact I have several pieces around my house. Just wanted to share this beautiful piece with you.
Colin

Colin,

That is beautiful--I'm so jealous! Is Rick online? I'd love to see more of his work!

Welcome back Colin. Glad to hear that you had a good time. That's a beautiful piece of workmanship your friend did. He has quite a talent for sure. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Bob
