Default Where to get a Board of Walnut Wood?

Hello, I'm looking for a site online that sells boards of wood, preferably walnut, but any type would do. It needs to be about 1"x15"x15". Do you know where I could find this item online?

Somebody at my carving club last night mentioned Johnson Wood Products as a good source for several species of wood, walnut included. You might give them a call.

You might also try local cabinet shops. They might not be able to sell you the wood, but I can almost guarantee that they'll be able to tell you where to find it.

Should be relatively easy to look up online as Walnut is popular with all types of woodworking.

Most Hardwood companies carry it in some quantity - don't know where you're located, but if you live near a medium sized city, check for Hardwood suppliers.....you'll save alot on shipping and also get to look at what you're buying.

I doubt you will find any walnut 15" wide, unless it is a glue up. I don't think you want a single board that wide as it will tend to cup over time.

It might help us to help you if we knew your general geographic location. Major nearby city, or at a minimum which state or province your live in.

I agree with TreeWizard. I picked up some 5/4 x 8" from a friend of mine at a saw mill and even though it was fairly cured, it eventually formed a slight cup.

Gosh after reading the above posts, I must have done something wrong !

I bought these two 6/4 x 25" x 8' walnut planks to make some pie crust table tops. They were fresh off the saw.

They have been in my shop about 4 years now since I kiln dried them and they haven't cupped any that I can tell.

I guess there are always exceptions.

Any one looking for wood in their state or geographical area should try the following website.
