Thanks, Anthony, for posting this. Gene's carvings are amazing and it's great to see him and wood carving get exposure like that.

I was up at Gene's shop on September 29th. I'd called him the day before and arranged to meet him but he got called away to a doctor's appointment so his wife was kind enough to open the shop up for us. As a result I was still able to purchase one of his specialty T-shirts, his DVD on carving a bear, and Alan Goodman's Carving a Woodspirit in a Hiking Stick. Gene's shop and home is located is a real pretty setting just down the road from Tuckaleechee Caverans. If you get the opportunity to visit Townsend be sure to set aside time to visit both Gene's shop and the caverns!

Gene is one of the finest carvers I have ever met .. he is also the most down to earth guy you could ever meet ..

If your ever in Townsend Tenn . it would do you well to visit him like Eddy did .. he is a fantastic carver , teacher and simple man around ..

he doesnt put on airs and talking to him is like talking to someone you already met ..

I guarantee .. you wont be disappointed ..
