Default Gargac Elf Club

Is my first Elf good enough to join the Club? I thought I would call him Mick as he looks a bit like Mick Jagger with the lips and chin. Mick Elf could be the singer in Santa's Rock and Roll Band.

Honestly though, a real question. The BLO seems to pop the grain out a little too much. Is this a concern to anyone? Is there a prefered direction for the grain in face carving? End on or across the face?

I love the way the BLO really makes the colours stand out though and I just followed Mark's instructions in his article in the Christmas WCI to the letter and it worked like a charm.

An unfinished picture of this piece is in Works in Progress under 1st Elf and my only other carvings are in the the Welcome Beginners under New from Canada.

I was really delighted at how this turned out as I have only been carving for under two months now and I'm hooked

Elliott

Your definitely in the club...now you may need to get treatment however as you'll find carving these little buggers are addictive. At first glance, I thought I was looking at one of Mottles elves as you both have a similar style. Great work.

Really great!!! If you're doing this after two months, I can't wait to see what your stuff looks like in two years!! We may have another Doris among us. Way to go... Keep at it!

Hi Elliott, super looking little elf and real fine carving too. You've done something I have trouble getting and that is a 'big smile' all mine don't smile.
