Thumbs up Gallery Posts

Hi
I love looking at all the different styles and inovative idea's that appear in the Gallery, but I feel that it would be great if the carver/maker would add some information; such as type of wood/timber, construction, ie if built of sectional peice's, etc.

Take care everyone, be happy Carry-on-Carving!

I agree you completely. I'am guilty as others and I plan to change. I wish people would rate the carvings with the truth not 10's everytime.

James, you may be correct in that the ratings are not truely accurate. However, Those who are new to the carving world and has worked hard to achive their first, second or even third carving are encoraged to keep on with maybe a higher rating. It also maybe that those who rated the carving believes in their heart and mind that it is a ten instead of a 3 or 4 or a 8.

I for one like to encourage a new carver with a higher rating than to shoot them down. One can rate a carving high and still critique it construtively, eh?
Clive, I am guilty in no adding what type of wood or finish on my cavings. Never thought about wheather one would want to know if it was pieced togehter of one piece or whatever. I will work on that part myself.

James I think that your right about the mark of 10.. I can't help but think that, by giving the mark of ten all the time is the correct way to go? I mean are we marking for the effort of having ago OR a mark for quality and skill?

While I think that all beginners should be helped, given praise and encouragement for their work and effort, but to given the full mark everytime is taking away the top step/goal! I mean if every one is/was given a ten then surely there is no standard and no true bench mark.

All the very best to all

Clive
