Default functional but not pretty.

I decided to make my first real carving a mortar and pestel for my wife, as the cat knocked hers off and broke it... I got a decent sized chunk of dried cedar and after 3 hours had the pestel down to hand size. I wanted to see how much more I needed to take off to get it to fit her hand comfortably, and she said stop right there, it fits perfect...

It looks nothing like a pestel, and is quite ugly to be honest... I said I would take it and sand it down to get the corners off... She said no, to leave it exactly like it was... grrrrr

As the title says... functional, but not pretty, and rather large. Gotta wait until I get proper tools to make the mortar... Would be decades of carving to get that out with only my hobby knife.

Functional works for me. I've always been a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of guy!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Some people like things left au natrel, I know I like to see something to tell me that whatever it is wasn't made in a factory but in the hands of a craftsman
