Default fun project

Here is a fun little project for those of you who use power rotary tools. Someone handed me an acorn a few weeks ago (before Halloween) and I just put it in my pocket. After I got home and was thinking about carving (I do that a lot even when I should be thinking of something else) I came across the acorn and decided to see what I could do with it. Before the day was done I had gone out to the local park, found some more acorns and ended making a little family of miniature jack-o-lanterns. It turned into a fun little project that doesn't cost anything but a little time.

thats what I love about carving,there is no limit to what you can do with basic materials.Sounds like fun,I,ll have to try it soon.Right now I,m trying relief carving.Never done it before,so should be interesting to see what I end up with.

On of the guys in my carving club has a monkey carved from a peach pit! Gotta pretty hard up to carve a peach pit.... ???

I've seen many of the monkeys carved out of a peach pit, among other subjects when I worked as a guard in the county jail.....wonder where this person learned his method :

I know a guy that carved a whole Nativity set from his gall stone.
