Default FRIDAY the 13TH !!! Daily post goes here...

Yikes! Don't carve on any wooden ladders today people!
Thanks to everyone that dropped in on Thursday's thread. Hope some more of you will pop in today. :

David Sercel...I just finished looking at your pic. site explaining the process to carve the Ruby - Bee eater bird. I have a little wren that I carved and shaped a few years ago, then set aside not quite knowing what to do next...think now, I can follow your layout and put some eyes, feet, and feather detailing in and finish it! .... Thanks!

Gergie....are you using power tools to carve that black walnut 'sting' ?

Big Wayne.... Good luck on your move...Label, Label, Label!...will make unpacking that much easier.

Colin partridge.....Wow, you can carve alot of stuff in a week, it doesn't surprise me that you like to carve whole trees!...yeah, enough of this snow already..we want Spring!

Jamesfa....hurry up and finish that furniture, I think I hear some birds calling your name...

Today I am working on painting my ark animals some, but will probably find one of my other unfinished carving pieces and work on it a bit too. Painting is not my favorite part anymore and I know I can ruin a nicely carved piece if I don't take the time to paint it right.

Coffee's on.... join me...what are ya'll working on today?

I'm still 'working' at my real job... :P

I had a club meeting last night, but did get a few chips off the hunter still (just cleaning up a few details) and whittled out a minature bust - just doodling.

I start working on the base for the hunter and dog tonight, but will not have much time. I have a funeral to attend tomorrow Sunday will be a good carving (and painting) day, so I should have an update on Monday.

Wow, this thread is a cool idea. Thanks.

I finished a book carving today (except for paint) and got started on one of those long-overdue custom orders. Trying to force myself to do one order for every 2 'fun' carvings, and maybe I'll get caught up this year....or not.

Today I am working on a spruce balsum hiking staff and of course I am carving a wood spirit or two into it. Beautiful wood to carve and the aroma is out of this world. I am carving it green and put a finish on it before it starts to check. If it cures ok I have a source of about a million of these things I really like them because they are really straight.
