I am working on a small nativity and would like to carve a few small animals to go along with it (and something else to work on) but I can not find any free patterns. Just wondering if anyone knows of any sites with free patterns that have animals. I checked the links in the other post with the sites and could not find any. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Two suggestions: 1) Scroll all the way down on this page to the bottom. The server puts links there to similar threads in the past. 2) Go to Google, put in the name of the animal you want in the search field, then when the new page of links comes up, click on Images in the upper left corner. You'll get literally thousands of photos and drawings of that particular animal. Use the photos/drawings as you pattern. Claude |

Making your own,,,, Find a store figure you find appealing and take a front and side picture of it. After storing it in your pc get a paint program that allows you to fill it in with black. Use the +- zoom feature to bring it up to the size you want then trace the outlines on transparent paper. I like to use the figure as a model when carving.. I gave up looking for "free" patterns, I found very few free ones on line. I finally ordered some magazines, including the Woodcarving Illustrated. I'm doing ok with the carving but as far as freehand drawing gos,,well it doesn't. |
